paint + canvas
New work! I created this 4 painting series for submission to the SOMA Windows for Women exhibition in March 2026.
My paintings immerse the viewer beneath the surface to engage with drifting floral forms and shifting light. Inspired by the freedom I find in nature, I paint these botanicals as if they are encountered underwater—petals and stems moving at eye level, amidst slow, fluid currents. Through layered gouache and gesso on a square format canvas, I create an intimate, suspended world of contrasts: in saturation, tone and depth.
Created in the small, often stolen moments between the responsibilities of career and motherhood, this body of work reflects the quiet perseverance that shapes so many women’s creative lives. The rhythm of balancing care, work, and the need for personal expression infuses each piece with both tenderness and strength. For Women’s History Month, these submerged botanical spaces become a metaphor for the resilience of women who continue to cultivate beauty, voice, and freedom—even in the midst of demanding currents.
